a Sri Lankan Writer
Lal Medawattegedara is a Sri Lankan author writing in English. He has written two novels and two short story collections. His fiction has won Sri Lanka’s foremost award for creative writing, the Gratiaen Prize once and has been short-listed for the same award twice. He is an academic with the Language Studies Department of The Open University of Sri Lanka.
A text is a world of its own. It exists and does not exist at the same time. When writing happens, the text and the world become one. Everything disappears…like the floating dust after a short spell of rain.
